Learning the road, one ride at a time

In a 2024 motorcycle interview, Alice Otsu talked about lessons, choosing a first bike and finding room for riding alongside work.

Making time to learn

Motorcycle videos helped spark her interest in riding. She wanted a new hobby and another way to travel, then fitted riding school around her work. In May 2024, she said the lessons had taken roughly six months and that she had obtained her licence about a year earlier.

Her account was that of a relatively new rider. At the time of the interview, she had not yet used an expressway on a motorcycle. A video project about riding had stopped before the planned expressway episode, so those interviews should not be mistaken for an ongoing channel schedule.

Two Hondas for different rides

Her choice was a white Honda CBR250RR. The way the bike looked, including its colour, helped settle the decision. She also owned a Honda GROM 125, which she used to practise and ride around town.

She enjoyed making some changes herself, using online videos to understand the work. For brakes and suspension, however, she said she relied on professionals. The two motorcycles were part of a developing interest, with learning and confidence still central to the experience.

Morning routes and future plans

Among the places she mentioned were Tokyo Tower, Shinonome Ricoland, Miyagase and Okutama. She often rode in the morning or by herself, fitting trips into the space available around her other commitments.

Fuji Speedway was somewhere she hoped to visit. That was a future wish, rather than a racing credit. Her motorcycle story is about discovering routes, gaining familiarity with her machines and building a hobby a ride at a time.
